I am NOT predicting a new party. I do not know if one will emerge or not. But if it does it would have to be very good. For me it would have to look like this…
One of the problems in UK Politics & Government is the remoteness and lack of connection between people and Westminster. Its not about me saying that X, Y & Z policy must be introduced. Its about us.
It is more likely a new culture that severely weakens the major political parties and transforms them. (See Germany, post 2021 Federal Election, for what this looks like in terms of the major parties).
Nevertheless I make a definite prediction on UBI. (and I am consistent on this). I also think (with confidence but less certainty than UBI) that the NHS will continue to grow in terms of percentage of GDP allocated to it. I think most of the UK population would like to see budget decisions regarding the NHS made by representatives of the NHS. However, I have no proof about that. So I leave it as a mere suggestion (see below).
It wouldn’t accept large donations from corporations wanting a tax cut. Because the New Party would not only say that large corporations that donate to it are wasting their time. The New Party would go further in advocating for a system that makes such donations illegal. (many such donations are from international criminals). Any party that won over X% of the vote in a General Election would receive all donations from the tax payer. And each party would receive the same amount of money. This wouldn’t be a policy designed to bleed the parties dry. I am not against money. I am against the unfairness that money can and sometimes does result in. So its not accurate to say I am advocating getting money out of politics. I am advocating getting dirty and unfair money out of politics.
· The new party would introduce high level UBI. This would decentralise power, wealth and income from a Westminster clique to millions of people. UBI is a liberation policy and profoundly pro mental health. I want to see people celebrating this policy. Decades of power and control over people must end… and the people liberated. Hence low level UBI is not an option. It must be high level so that it liberates and boosts mental health.
· The new party would refuse to engage with the establishment parties. It wouldn’t sulk about them. I do not want Trumpian tantrums in any new party! It would 100% ignore them because they are irrelevant. The New Party would not respect them and would be so dismissive of them that they would be ignored due to them being 100% irrelevant.
· The new party would tax the national print press out of business. The national print press are dying anyway but the process can be speeded up.
· The new party would tax wealthy tax avoiders (most of whom are currently legally avoiding tax by stashing their millions away in tax havens… whether Bermuda or Necker Island etc).
*Representatives of Doctors, Nurses, Ambulance men and women would get to strongly influence both levels of spending and what the spending is spent on. Hence the people we clapped in 2020 would decide rather than the person we most mocked, Matt Hancock. Yes, I know he is no longer Health Secretary but you get my point. NHS staff are far more trusted on the NHS than Tory MPs will ever be. However, the new party would not be in favour of them setting their own pay rates. The Independent Pay Commission would decide their pay rates. The health secretary would have a seat at the table on NHS budgeting but that is all. In general power would have been taken from the government and given to the NHS.
· The new party understands that its not about themselves. It understands this so much that it accepts that empowering the people so much means that it too would become as irrelevant as the major parties within a few years. Its not about me. Its not about you. Its about us… And… its not about making the rich not rich. Its about making the poor not poor.
I am not predicting a new party. But that new party (if given equal opportunity to compete… which would mean bankrolling it) would be super popular.
Additional Note
I am not claiming that once Westminster is seen as irrelevant that all attention would switch to society per se. Almost all attention would switch to the individual simply demanding X from Westminster to no longer thinking about politics and society as much. Their problems (that the collective can solve) would now be solved. However, for those who are interested and focused on the collective (i.e., those most genuinely possess a social conscience mindset)… they would (even more than they do already) switch their focus as follows… Who runs the country? Investors, suppliers of goods to shops, everyone who works in schools, everyone who works in the NHS etc. That’s why in 2020 we clapped nurses and not Matt Hancock. I am shining a light and focus on all them who contribute to the everyday running of society. I am no longer interested in Westminster SW1. SW1 are isolated and irrelevant. We could also clap teachers, people who work in supermarkets, in air traffic control, drivers on intercity trains… as they too (like NHS workers) keep society ticking over.
